Get a complete health check-up prior to any visit to Seychelles. It is also advisable to get vaccinations against polio, hepatitis A and typhoid. While the big cities have decent clinics, medical facilities in the interiors are limited. It is best to carry antibiotics and anti-malaria medication. However, these should be carried in their original package along with the prescription.
The most common ailment is travellers’ diarrhoea; avoid eating street food and drinking tap water. Also carry plenty of sun block while travelling.
If you are travelling to Seychelles during the rainy season, carry supplies of insect-repellent to avoid the risk of dengue fever. Do not walk barefoot as leptospirosis is also common during this season.
Seychelles is relatively crime free, though petty thefts are known to occur. Be careful of any valuables you carry to the beach, and also avoid beach at night, if alone.
