Bring a raincoat, an umbrella and a jumper along as the weather in Cape Town is very unpredictable.
South Africa uses the 240v system, like England, but the plugs are not of the same type. Remember to bring along a multi plug adapter for all your electrical items.
You will have to carry a tri-band mobile phone, if you want to use it in South Africa, as the network is GSM here.
It is always advisable to have a phone handy as it can be very useful for calling taxis or your accommodation or hotel for any assistance required.
A small or medium sized back-pack is useful for personal items when going on short walks or trips.
Light clothes for the day and warm apparel for the evenings is best, as the evenings can get quite chilly. Take along sun lotion or cream as well as insect repellent and after bite medication.
