Black taxis in South Africa are not a safe means of transport. These taxis are not in good condition and drivers, frequently, are not in control of the vehicle as it is not fit to be used as a taxi.

There are many Baboons especially at the Cape Point area. They jump on people’s backs, so, it is advisable to stay away from them and not to attempt to play with them.

Also make sure that your car or taxi windows closed when visiting such areas, as the Baboons sometimes come inside the car and it’s not an easy to get them out again.

Some of the beaches in Cape Town attract sharks and it is always advisable to be cautious when swimming as there have been some fatalities in the past. There are strong currents on most of the beaches, if surfing, be careful and always have someone experienced with you.

Swim only in patrolled areas. Townships have a high crime rate, avoid visiting them alone. When visiting in a group, be vigilant and aware of your surroundings.
