Tourist Guide Knysna
Located in the Western Cape Province of South Africa, Knysna is the part of the Garden Route. The name of the city is derived from the Khoikhoi word meaning "ferns". The city is located 34 degree south of Equator at a distance of 72 kilometer from George on the east side and 25 kilometers of Plettenberg Bay on the west. Located near a port the city can accommodate around 50 ships. The region has abundance of timber which is being exported since 1787. Knysna is said to be developed by George Rex who came to the city in 1796 and was played a major role in the city’s development.
Mediterranean Maritime climate is found in Knysna. The summers are moderately hot while the winters are mild and chilly. The area is said to have high precipitation especially in the winter season due to the humid winds from the Indian Ocean. The city is a popular destination amongst tourists and senior citizens who want to spend their time in a calm environs.
