Malelane is a quaint African town on the southern boundaries of the Kruger National Park in South Africa. Located on the borders of Mozambique and Swaziland, it is accessible from Johannesburg and Pretoria through Nelspruit. It functions as a rest camp for tourists and is also an entrance gate into the park which situated within the province of Mpumalanga.
The best time to visit is in the dry winter months, which are usually from May to October. The weather being uncertain during the year, tourists are usually advised to always carry a weatherproof jacket.
Although the population of Malelane is undefined, the population of Nkomazi Local Municipality (which is one of the 22 local municipalities in the province) is around 300, 000. Incidentally, Malelane is the municipal capital and is noted for its large sugar cane industry.
