Things to Do in Pemba: attractions to See in Pemba

Pemba: Attractions and more...

One of the most popular attractions of the port city is the Souk, which is an authentic local market stretching for about 2 km on the beach. It is a haven for bargaining, with sellers persuading you to buy anything from traditional silverware to arts and crafts.

Another popular attraction in Pemba is ‘The Gap’, an area where adventurous visitors can experience a sheer drop down the shelf from anywhere between 12–120 m. ‘The Playground’, which is 100 km north of the city, is another popular site. Here, the diversity of marine life with unusual discoveries like fire fish, scorpion fish, crayfish and even dwarf zebra lionfish will leave you fascinated.

Apart from the beautiful inland Pemba Bay, one can enjoy water sports and diving at the popular Wimbe Beach on the outskirts on the city. While you’re there, make sure you check out the Mar e Sol restaurant, where tasty fish and chips dipped in spicy citrus sauce are a favourite specialty.
