Things to Do in El Hamma: attractions to See in El Hamma

El Hamma: Attractions and more...

El Hamma is a typical Saharan oasis—an ideal haven for a few peaceful days. There is not much to see or do here except a swim in the hot sulphur springs or a stroll through the villages. On Wednesday, the market day, several stalls selling local products come up.

Gabes known as the ‘gateway to the South’ is not too far away from El Hamma. A horse-drawn carriage can be hired here for a trip of the entire town and the surrounding oases.

Matmata, close to Gabes, is an interesting old village. The houses here were constructed under the ground and were accessed by tunnels. Now, these cave dwellings have been converted to museums and even hotels.
