Things to Do in Sousse: attractions to See in Sousse

Sousse: Attractions and more...

The city retains its medieval charm. The old city is a maze of narrow, twisted streets, bazaars, and the Kasbah. The Kasbah, a large fort, was built in 1100-1600. This fortification offers a glorious view of the medina. It also houses the Sousse Archaeological Museum which has a beautiful collection of mosaics and ancient artefacts like masks, statues and burial tombs.

The Ribat of Sousse, a smaller fort, was built much earlier in 820AD. In the olden days, its soaring structure combined the purposes of a minaret and a watch tower. It houses a mosque and a mosaic museum in the compound.

The Catacombs of Sousse are a fascinating sight. Catacombs were shelters for the dead. These tunnels originally stretched for more than 5 km and contained 15,000 graves. Today, only a portion of this is open to public.
A port city, Sousse is home to beautiful sand beaches. Added to this are the orchards and olive groves, making Sousse the perfect place to unwind. At the beaches you can enjoy aquatic sports like windsurfing and snorkeling.

Sousse hosts several festivals across the year. These include the Sousse International Festival in July-August., the Mediterranean Olive Tree Festival in December, and the Sidi El Kantaoui Festival in July.
