Djerba: Vacations and Tourism

Djerba is the largest island in the Gulf of Gabes, off the coast of Tunisia. It is home to an estimated 60 000 people.
Djerba is well known for its mild and temperate winters and long hot summers
The island is known as the legendary home of the 'lotus eaters' and Ulysses himself. Today it is a very popular tourist destination.
Djerba is the center of the Al-Ibadhiyah sect of Islam and also has a noted Jewish minority. La Griba Synagogue is one of the holiest Jewish sites in North Africa. It draws pilgrims every May from across the country.
