Ghazi Mustapha Fort in Djerba is a symbol of Tanit, a Phoenician lunar goddess which was built in the 15th century. Tanit and Baal Hammon were worshipped in Punic contexts in Western Mediterranean.
It is a beautiful fort which is located beside the beach of Houmt Souk and is made up of red ochre stone. It is not open to public; it can be only visited with prior appointment. There is a plaza opposite to the fort which contains huge tanks which used to supply water to the inhabitants.
It has a magnificent carving, and eye catching views. It is a great historic monument built in the ancient times. This historic building is worth visiting whilst in Djerba.
