Houmt Souk

Houmt Souk is the main center on the north coast of the Island of Djerba. The term "Houmt Souk" means "marketplace". It remains one of the primary destinations of the town featuring a number of popular tourist attractions.

It was established by the Romans, who recognized the advantages of its location on the open sea. Some of the most popular attractions of Houmt Souk include Folk Museum, Bordj el Kebir, Fondouks, Old Town and the Strangers Mosque.

The area also features a large number of cafes, restaurants and hotels. It is also known for providing the visitors with endless shopping options, with something on offer for everyone. A must see for those who are visiting the city of Djerba for the first time.
