Tourist Guide El Hamma
El Hamma is an oasis city in the southern part of Tunisia. It experiences a typical desert climate. Almost six months in the year it is extremely hot. The winter months are very chilly, especially at night.
El Hamma is spread over an area of more than 263 ha and has a population of approximately 62,000 inhabitants. The oasis is made up of a cluster of villages; the chief village also goes by the same name.
The region was first developed into a spa by the Romans and remains of Roman basins can still be found here.
Agriculture is the main occupation of the inhabitants, but a few industries have also come up. With the Tunisian army all set to establish a base in El Hamma, rapid economic and infrastructural development is on the cards.
