Tourist Guide Gabes
Gabes is a city in Tunisia. Situated on the Gulf of Gabes, in the Mediterranean Sea, it has a population of 116,323 inhabitants.
The region experiences a semi arid climate characterised by relatively high temperatures and modest rainfall.
Gabes is of Phoenician origin and was of strategic military importance during World War II. Today it is the administrative and economic centre of the region, with an extensive industrialization program.
Gabes is the only known seaside oasis in the world. A great experience is exploring the two parts of the oasis, the one between the city and the sea, and the other between the city and the desert.
