Tourist Guide Sbeitla
Sbeitla is located in the northern region of Tunisia. This region is covered with hills and also mountainous ranges extending from the Atlas Mountains. Sbeitla is home to approximately 20,200 inhabitants.
Owing to its location in the north, the region enjoys a temperate climate. Temperatures are not extreme with mild, rainy winters and hot, dry summers; the weather here is less drastic than the southern desert region.
Initially, Sbeitla was the site for nomadic tribes like many others in these parts of Africa. Its capture by Roman rulers brought along development and prosperity, especially with the development of the olive industry.
It then suffered a period of decline when it was invaded and plundered by the Vandals and then the Arabs. Since, it has slipped back into its stature of a nomadic market town.Explore map
