Tabarka is a city of white houses with slanting red roofs, sitting next to a blue sea. The city has some spectacular beaches and a colourful Friday market.
Perched on a wild rocky island off the Tabarka harbour is the spectacular 16th century Genoese Castle; only a small section of the castle, including a small Mosaic Museum, is open to public, the rest is used by the Tunisian military.
Tabarka is the diving centre of Tunisia. Divers can explore underwater tunnels, caves, corals and wrecks alike. If you are here during the fishing season (September-April) try your hand at Coral Fishing.
The needles of Tabarka, a sea facing area with sharp, 20 meter high rocks, leaning over each other right till they kiss the sea water are a spectacular sight.
The town hosts the Tabarak Jaaz Festival in July, with local and international artists participating, the town gets flooded with soulful melodies.
In September Tabarka hosts the Neptune Trident Festival, when locals and tourists alike get to test their spear-fishing skills in honour of the tyrant of the seas. It also hosts Coralis, a festival of diving and underwater photography.
