Tamerza: Attractions and more...
The modern town of Tamerza does not have much to offer, but it does have one of the best luxury hotels in the area, making it an ideal spot to explore the nearby region including the oases of Mides and Chebika.
Most of the structures of the Ksar (the old town) have crumbled, but their shapes and structures make for interesting viewing.
The gorge of Tamerza is known more for its unique shape and formation rather than its size. A short distance away is the waterfall in Tamerza—an unexpected sight in the desert. While not more than a trickle in summer, it is quite impressive in the winter and spring. The stream which flows into the waterfall and the surrounding foliage, make for a pleasant setting.
Just outside the town is a stream which cascades off a canyon; it is known as the last waterfall of Tamerza. In winters, the basins it falls into are great for a dip. There are cafes and shops perched on surrounding cliffs.
