The Victoria Falls is nestled in the province of Matabeleland North, Zimbabwe. The city is located near the world Famous Victoria Falls which lies at the eastern end while at the southern bank the Zambezi River. Rail and road connection of the city is available from Hwange which is located at a distance of 109 KM and Bulawayo which is a distance of 440 KM south east of the city.
As per the 1992 census the population of the city is 16,826. The town was founded in 1901 when the Hydro-electric power was discovered. The city expanded rapidly when it got connected to Bulawayo through a railway line just before the opening of Victoria Fall Bridge.
The city’s main economic activity is tourism. The area has three different seasons. From May to August the weather is dry and cool and the average temperature is between 25-27 °C. The months of September to October/ November are usually hot. The rainy season occurs from mid of November to January.
