Mazar-e-sharif is primarily known for its ancient architecture and eventful history. The place has been the site of many wars and civil unrest, but has retained its architectural beauty.
The Hazrat Ali Shrine is the most popular attraction of the city. Interestingly, the city is built around this shrine. Located in a large courtyard, it displays small beautiful domes with stunning blue tiling of mosaic. The excellent condition of the shrine is testimony to the fact that it is Afghanistan’s most well-preserved monuments.
Nabeel’s expats is a retail outlet where visitors will find a variety of imported food at reasonable prices. Also, the Kaifiyat Hotel serves the best cuisine and is among the largest hotels in the city.
The Balkh city, which is just a few kilometres from Mazar-e-sharif, is also a mystic archaeological site with beautiful ancient structures like the Masjid-e-Non Gomband which is famous for its pillars.
