The Bahrain International Airport is located on Al Muharraq Island, to the northern Gulf regions of Bahrain, Manama.
It is the main hub for Gulf Air that carries more than 8 million passengers through major airlines like KLM, Cathay Pacific and British Airways.
An expansion and renovation program was launched in the year 2006 aiming at the creation of a new multi-storey car park, full resurfacing of main runway, fully automated security systems, more shopping facilities and retail complex adjacent to the main terminal building.
The procedures have undergone several changes, with effect of 9/11 terrorist attacks, to make sure that individuals as well as groups can be passed through the various check points quickly without wasting any time.
People who arrive early at the airport can also enjoy duty free shopping offered by award winning shopping malls in the Departures Lounge.
