Thimphu is a rather young city but it hold fast to the traditional designs
of the ancient building. There is a National Art School training painters and
sculptors.
A symbol of the city is the Trashi Chhoe Dzong with its dominant position an
a hill and the Memorial Chorten with its collection of paintings and statues.
On the weekends in Thimphu its worth to visit the biggest market of Bhutan, where you can find manufactured goods (also from India and Nepal) and a lot of fresh grains and vegetables.
The climate in Thimphu is temperate; the summer season from June to September
can be very rainy. The temperature goes from -6°C to 17°C in January
and from 13°C to 30°C in July.
