Renowned for its design and architectural style and built using sandstone, the temple has been decorated using devatas and bas-reliefs. Today, Angkor Wat is a major tourism destination, bringing in more than one million visitors annually.
Banteay Samre, Baksei Chamkrong, West Mebon, Thommanon, Chao Say Tevoda, and the temples of Preah Pithu are some of the other popular archaeological sites. The ancient city of Angkor Thom, which houses a large number of temples and monuments, is also worth a visit.
