Ratanakiri can be described as a province located in Cambodia’s north-eastern part; which goes on to border Laos on the northern side, Vietnam on the eastern side, Stung Treng on the western side, and Mondulkiri Province on the southern side.
Ratanakiri extends from mountains of Annamite Range on the northern side acrosshilly plateau; that too, between Tonle Srepok and Tonle San rivers, towards deciduous forests (in south). This place has gained reputation due to presence of lush forests, along with rich biodiversity. Now, however, ecological health of the province is being threatened by recent developments.
Like Cambodia’s other regions, Ratanakiri has monsoonal climate; wherein rainy season lasts between May and October; with dry season between November and April. This place appears to be sunnier, drier, and cooler as compared to the remaining portion of Cambodia.
