Back Lake or Houhai is a manmade lake and one of three largest consecutive lakes which are lined with beautiful willow trees. The lakes are surrounded by many shops, cafes and hutongs (a type of narrow street).
Recently, the lakes have become famous for nightlife as are home to many popular bars and restaurants. This lake is a part of Shishahai, composing of Houhai, Xihai and Qianhai. Having its own history of over thousand years, the place is popular amongst tourists too.
