Changchun can be described as the biggest city as well as capital of ‘Jilin Province’; situated in north-eastern region of ‘People’s Republic of China’; in center of ‘Songliao Plain’. One can call Changchun as a sub-provincial city’.
The name ‘Changchun’ has been derived from ‘Jurchen Language’. As per 2000 census, population of this city was 7.1 million; inclusive of county-level cities and counties. Population of urban districts has been estimated to be 3.2 million. As per Chinese standards, Changchun is a comparatively novel city with history of just 200 years. In the year 1800, Jiaqing, an Emperor of Qing Dynasty went on to select a petite village on ‘east bank’ of Yitong River, thereby having named it ‘Changchun Ting’.
Changchun’s prefecture-level city executes the task of administering ten ‘county-level divisions’, inclusive of 3 cities of county-level, 6 districts, and a county.
