The Dazu Rock Carvings are a group of sacred sculptures and carvings featuring Buddhist, Taoist and Confucian faiths. It is a World Heritage Site with over fifty thousand statues with numerous inscriptions, dating back to the seventh century.
The Three Gorges is a picturesque area set between high cliffs which can be reached through cruise ships. Qutang Gorge is the shortest, but boasts of the fastest running water; Wu Gorge is the second tallest gorge surrounded by narrow cliffs, while the Xiling Gorge is the longest and deepest.
