Chinese New Year, which falls on the first day of the first Lunar month, is the biggest celebration in China. Duanwu Festival, commonly known as the Dragon Boat Festival is celebrated in July. The Dongzhi Festival or Winter Solstice Festival is one of the most important Chinese festivals. The Ghost Festival is a traditional Chinese festival

The National Day of the People’s Republic of China is celebrated on 1 October. The holidays on May Day and National Day are called the ‘Golden Weeks’ and these are the peak seasons for travel and tourism. Youth Day is celebrated on 4 May which is followed by Children’s Day in June. The Founding of the Communist Party is celebrated in July.
