Kowloon is a city in Hong Kong, China. The urban area includes New Kowloon and Kowloon Peninsula. It is bordered by the Tate’s Cairn and Lion Rock in the north, Lei Yue Mun strait in the east, Mei Foo Sun Chuen and Stonecutter’s Island in the west and the Victoria Harbour in the south. Kowloon City lies in the Kowloon City District.
Like the rest of Hong Kong, Kowloon also has subtropical climate. The average temperature during summers is 33°C while it is 17°C in winter. Spring and autumn both experience a mean temperature of 23°C.
The population of Kowloon City District is approximately 362,500.
Before the new International Airport was opened in 1998, the former Kai Tak Airport was just next to Kowloon City. Although the airport moved and the buildings here are old and stale, the city is still renowned for its restaurants.
