Kunming is a city in the Yunnan Province of China. It is the capital city of the province. The city is located at the northern end of the great Lake Dian.
Due to its geographical location, Kunming enjoys the most pleasant weather conditions in China. Kunming experiences subtropical monsoon climate characterised by mild summers and winters. The annual average temperature is 20°C. As the city is covered with blossoms and lush vegetation all the year round, Kunming is often referred to as the ‘City of Eternal Spring’.
Kunming has approximately 5,740,000 inhabitants. The city is abundant in mineral resources, especially phosphate and salt.
Kunming is one of the nation’s 24 historic and cultural cities. Built in 765 AD and called Tuodongcheng, it was named Kunming in the Yuan dynasty.
