Gold Wire Pagoda

Gold Wire Pagoda is as old as the early tenth century BC. At the time of excavation work within the vicinity, 4 bundles consisting of gold wire, along with 3 swords were shown the light. The year 1708 witnessed collapse of this pagoda. However, reconstruction took place after 5 years. In the year 1788 it got surmounted with ‘golden tripod’ that was to ‘ward off’ fires. This octagonal 195 ft/59 m high pagoda contains 7 storey’s. Every storey has a canopy.

Park of the 1st of August

The Park of the 1st of August came in to being in the year 1932. It comprises of Hundred Flowers Island and East Lake. At the time of ‘Southern Song period’, i.e. from 1127 to 1279, this lake had been used as one of the training grounds for royal troops. Subsequently, till the start of this ‘century’, the park had been a center of ‘imperial state examinations’ at provincial and district level.
