Nanjing can be described as Jiangsu Province’s capital; along with being a city occupying an important place in culture and history of China.
Nanjing was privileged enough to have served as China’s capital at the time of numerous historical periods. Moreover, it’s listed amongst the 4 ‘Great Ancient Capitals of China’. Prior to ‘Chinese Civil War’, Nanjing had functioned as ROC’s, i.e. Republic of China’s capital. This place is also amongst 15 sub-provincial cities within administrative structure of People’s Republic of China; thereby having enjoyed economic and jurisdictional autonomy; just a bit less than province.
Nanjing has ‘humid subtropical climate’. Moreover, it’s under influence of ‘East Asia Monsoon’. This region can boast of hot summers with a lot of rainfall all through the year.
As per ‘Fifth China Census’, population of Nanjing on the whole was 6.24 million. This was in the year 2000.
