Nanjing Botanical Garden
This botanical garden was established in the year 1929 and holds the credit of being the first one of its type in China. It contains comprehensive and gorgeous landscape functions inclusive of scientific research, education, and display. As one of the research centers on northern and central sub-tropical floras of People’s Republic of China, this garden contains living collection relating to almost 3000 taxa; which belong to 913 generations of ‘188’ families. ‘Herbarium' comprises of total of 700000 specimens. In all, there happen to be 5 research departments: Plant Information Center, Medicinal Plant Research Center, Ornamental Plant Research Center, Herbarium, and Key laboratory of Plant Ex-situ Conservation of Jiangsu Province.
As of now, this garden has arranged for exchange programs with regards to books, specimens, plants, and seeds with around 600 organizations; that too, of around 60 nations across the globe.
