Xiamen is a beautiful coastal city in the Fujian Province of China. The city, also known as Egret Island owing to the thousands of egrets nesting here, is home to a population of over two million residents. Voted as the cosiest and cleanest city of China, Xiamen has spectacular beaches and pleasant scenery.
The climate of Xiamen is subtropical with mild temperatures. Summers as well as winters have moderate temperatures. Rainfall is a dominating factor of the city’s climate. Snow is not a common phenomenon, although winters are at times extremely cold.
Historically, Xiamen was an important trade centre in China. In recent times, Xiamen’s economy has flourished in areas like textiles, manufacturing, fishing, financial and shipbuilding.
