Hong Kong has a highly developed transportation network and encompasses of both public and private transportation facilities. Over ninety percent of people travel daily by public transport. There is the Octopus Card which is a stored value smart card payment system and which can be used to pay for fares on all buses, ferries and railways. Another mode of transportation is the rapid transit system which is MTR having 150 stations serving 3.4 million people in a day.
