The Pin Valley National Park is spread over an area of 675 kilometers and the height of this place is 3,500 meters close to Ka Dogri to 6,000 meters at the pinnacle.
In 1987, the Pin Valley was declared as a National Park. This region is a natural habitat for several endangered species like the Siberian Ibex and the Snow Leopard.
As there is extreme climate and due to the high height, this area has scant vegetation. Usually, one finds alpine trees, Himalayan cedar and a small amount of many medicinal plants.
During the summer season, the valley is as if decorated by the numerous colors of the flowers. Some very rare birds like Tibet Snow Finch, Snow Partridge, Chukor and Himalayan Snowcock are found in this region.
To reach this park, one has to walk from the closest road terminus at Mikkim. |
