Situated in the southern part of India, Karnataka, earlier known as the State of Mysore is the eighth largest Indian state by area with Bangalore now called as ‘Bengaluru’ as its capital.
The local language spoken largely in this state is Kannada.
Karnataka has contributed greatly to various forms of Indian classical music namely the Hindustani and Carnatic music traditions.
