Mumbai
Mumbai is the capital of Maharashtra & commercial capital of India. The major tourist attractions are Chowpatty, Juhu beaches, Marine Drive, Haji Ali shrine, Mahalaxmi Temple, Hanging Gardens, Gateway of India and Wales Museum.
Elephanta Caves
Just 10 kilometers away from the Mumbai coast, one can see the Elephanta Caves. These are on an island in the Arabian Sea. These caves were built from 450 to 750 AD and portray excellent sculptures of Lord Shiva.
Aurangabad
In Aurangabad, one can find Bibi-ka-Maqbara built by Emperor Aurangazeb. Also notable places to visit are the Darwaazaas and Pan Chakki which show exceptional skilled architecture of the past.
Hill Stations
There are three hill stations in Maharashtra, namely, Mahabaleshwar, Lonavala and Khandala. The atmosphere of these locations is different than the other cities. One may find cascading waterfalls, placid lakes, calm surroundings and clean air.
