Auroville, identified as the ‘City of Dawn’, is a community that plainly stands out from its nearby traditional Indian farms and villages.

The Matrimandir is a beautiful golf ball like structure in which silence is maintained. The area in and around it is referred to as the ‘Peace area’ and is characterized by its twelve gardens, petals future lakes, the Banyan tree and the Amphitheatre.

Situated 10 kms north of Pondicherry, this town is considered to be a universal town as it houses people of different nationalities and beliefs. The building of this town began in 1968 and the development of which is still under progress.

Chunnambar Boat House is situated 8 kms away from Pondicherry: the backwaters of this lake along with its plush greenery besides it is idyllic for boating.

Pondicherry Museum hosts instead a variety of French heritages, samples of traditional and modern handicrafts, Arikamedu, carvings, paintings etc. are on display.

Mansion of Ananda is a beautiful example of Indo French architecture. This mansion was built in 1773 by Rangapillai. It is one of the spots which a first time visitor should not miss.

Villaiayanur is located about nine and a half kilometers away from pondicherry, the Sri Gokilambal Thirukameshwarar tamale is architecturally one of the finest in pondicherry.

A Ten day annual festival is held in this town in the month of May-June which attracts loads of devotees. It is a breathtaking sight which the tourist should not miss.
