Dhebar Lake lies in Udaipur and in Rajasthan and was formed in the 17th century when Rana Jai Singh of Udaipur constructed a marble dam on the Gomati River.
The lake covers a total area of thirty six square kilometer and stretches to a width of 9 km and 14 km. It has a depth of 102 feet and a huge circumference of 30 miles.
This is Asia’s 2nd largest artificial lake and is also known by the name Jaisamand Lake. One can easily reach this lake from the city by hiring a taxi or taking a bus.
There is a Shiva temple here and the summer palace of the queens of Udaipur acts as a perfect background to this lake. The lake comprises of 7 islands and the biggest island here is the Babaka Bhagra.
One can enjoy boating in this lake and there are marble steps descending into the water. |
