Gangotri National Park has a special blend of coniferous forests, lush green meadows and the impressive glacial world.
The forests comprise of rhododendrons, oak, spruce, fir and chirpine deodar. As per the most recent records, 150 species of birds and 15 species of mammals are found here.
Some of the rare and captivating species are Himalayan snowcock, Koklass, Himalayan monal, Himalayan tahr, blue sheep or bharal, musk deer, brown bear, black bear and snow leopard. .
Apart from these, the other species found are bulbul, parakeet, pigeons, doves, partridges, pheasants, serow, thar, tiger, Himalayan barbet, thar, ibex to name a few.
Tourism in this park climaxes from April to October. The closest town to this park is Harsil, which is at a distance of 30 kilometers. |
