It shares the northern boundary with Bhutan and the eastern boundary with the state of Assam.
So far, 10 species of grass, 150 species of orchids, 10 species of bamboo, 9 species of cane, 400 species of herbs, 250 species of shrubs, 300 species of trees, 130 species of aquatic flora and more than 70 sedges have been recognized. There are also 160 species of ferns and monocotyledons.
The prime examples are of trees like Chikrasi, Simul, Champ and Sal. Amongst the fauna, 5 species of amphibians, 76 species of snakes, 73 species of mammals and 390 species of birds have been identified.
Animals like the Tiger, Elephant, clouded Leopard, Chital, Gaur, giant Squirrel, Civets, Bears, Antelope and Wild Buffaloes are found here.
Snakes like the Regal Python are also found. Innumerable butterflies and 230 species of birds make the reserve very colorful. In 2006, two new types of frogs have been recognized. |
