Pasighat can be mentioned as the HQ of ‘East Siang District’ in Arunachal Pradesh, India. Located at an elevation of 155 meters, Pasighat, with scenic splendors on its part is the oldest town in Arunachal Pradesh. The origin of Pasighat can be traced to 1911 AD. The credit of its finding goes to Britishers. They had discovered this town to make it serve as gateway to ‘administrative convenience’ with regards to area north and greater Abor Hills. Basically it had been one of the settlements of ‘Pasi’ tribes that’re still found staying in hamlets in as well as around Pasighat. Much before known settlement, existing area had been inhabited by ‘Mishing’ people. These persons were forcibly made to shift towards Assamese plain owing to continual raids carried out by hill people.
Pasighat is reputable for having received the highest rainfall on a yearly basis.
The population as per 2001 census was 21972.
