Bardez is a region in North Goa that is bounded by the Chapora River on the north, the Mandovi River on the south, the Mapusa River on the east and by the Arabian Sea on the west.
The residents of Bardez are called as Bardezcar in the local Konkani language.
The origin of the word Bardez is “Bara desh” which means “twelve countries.”
The average highest temperature varies from 30 °C in January to 33 °C in May. The average lowest temperature varies from 19 °C in January to 27 °C in May.
The legislature in Goa is situated in Bardez. The markets of Bardez are comprised of the “Friday bazaar” in Mapusa and the “Big Wednesday” flea market in Anjuna.
Bardez was included in the Old Conquest of the Portuguese.
