Bhagalpur is situated in the Bihar state of Eastern India. It is situated in the southern region of Bihar and is one of the oldest districts. It is placed in the plane of the Ganga basin and lies at a height of 141 feet above sea level. Bhagalpur covers an area of 2569.50 sq.km. It lies between 25.07-25.30 N latitude and between 86.37-87.30E longitudes. As per the 2001 census of India, Bhagalpur had a population of 340,349.
