Tourist Guide Bihar Sharif
Bihar Sharif can be described as district HQ of ‘Nalanda district’ in Bihar, India.
Bihar Sharif had once been capital of Bihar’s Muslim governors; from 13th to 16th centuries. It was the time when this place was amongst the active cultural centers; along with being a significant seat relating to Muslim learning and thought. Foreign invaders used to make use of abandoned viharas in the form of ‘military cantonments’.
Many people believe that the word ‘Bihar’ might have been derived from loads of viharas which were employed in this region which became ‘Bihar’ later. Originally, ‘Bihar’ was name of town; that was HQ of Muslim invaders within Magadha area in medieval period.
Therefater, HQ got shifted to Patana (right now, Patna) by none other than Sher Shah Suri; thereby naming the entire Magadha region as ‘Bihar’.
The major activity followed over here is agriculture. These days, it’s also getting developed as a huge cloth market.
