Some of the best palaces are built in this city like the Maharaja of Darbhanga which is the most important attractions in the city. Most of the palaces are situated inside the walled campus. There are also many temples which are dedicated to Goddess Durga and Kali.
Darbhanga Fort is another attraction for the outsiders who come to the city. The city is also known for its ponds and there are hundreds of them across the city. Some of the major ones are Harahi, Gangasagar and Dighi. There are also 2 museums like the Chandradhari Museum and the Maharaja Laxmiswar Singh which has exhibits like old clothes, coins, arms and artifacts donated by the royal family of Darbhanga.
There is also the official library of Sanskrit University which has a rich source for someone who is more interested in researching of ancient Indian culture and traditions. The library is known for its collection of over 5500 ancient manuscripts on subjects like Philosophy, Agam Tantra, Dharmashastra and Vyakaran.
