Bihar, located in the eastern part of north India, previously known as Magadha, was once the main power of India’s fight for independence.

Its capital is Patna.

Derived from the Sanskrit word ‘vihara’ , the meaning of Bihar is monasteries.

The historic university Nalanda is located in Bihar and its ruins are still visible by many. It is ranked the 12th largest state in India geographically and the third biggest by population.

Bihar gets the nastiest of the cold and heat and an abundance of floods. Its temperature varies from 43 °C to 21 °C during summer and 20 °C to 6 °C in winter. This state consists of a variety of rivers, the most significant of which is the Ganges.

The main language of Bihar’s inhabitants is Bhojpuri in addition to many other languages like Bengali, Angika, English, Hindi, Maithili, Urdu and Magahi.

Jharkhand, today an India's State, was born on 15th November 2000 (with Ranchi as its capital) : actually, it was created from part of South Bihar.

The appropriate time to visit Bihar is form October to March.
