Patna remains untouched from economical developments and still appears to live in the past. Consequently, the nightlife scene is mostly limited to movie theaters and local art shows. It is strongly advisable, however, not to venture out alone at night. Always be in a group and try to avoid dark and unknown areas.
Many local dhabas (food-joints) start after late hours in the evening and serve delicious food in an open-air environment. Sometimes, there is live-performance of local artists who sing and dance.
Many small food-stalls on the streets serve local delicacies. It is advisable; however, to check the hygiene and quality of the food at such places. During festivals, plays are organized on the streets late in the evenings where artists depict scenes from the Ramayana and other folklores.
The Mahabodhi Temple is illuminated by flood lights during late hours and makes for a spectacular vista. Some parks in the city also allow roaming till late in the evening.
