Currently, Vaishali is a small village situated in Bihar about 55 kilometers from the capital of Bihar, Patna and a 5.5 kilometers long Mahatma Gandhi Bridge across the Ganga leads to it.
It is close to the village Basarh which was identified as the original site for Vaishali by the English archaeologist Alexander Cunningham.
Vaishali has an extreme climate with very hot summers (temperature may soar to 45 degrees Celsius) and very cold winters (temperature may drop to 6 degrees Celsius). October to March is the ideal time to visit this place.
The population of this place is 25,000 and the languages spoken by people are Hindi, Maithili, Vajjika and English.
Although, today there are only banana, rice fields and mango groves in this place but this place is associated to an impressive past as it was a rich center of industry and trade.
The heroic King Vishal is believed to have ruled here from the epic Ramayana.
