Raipur, the capital city of state of Chhatisgarh, is one of the biggest cities in the entire state, which was formerly a part of another state called Madhya Pradesh till the year 2000.
It has a population of 39,02,609 people which include North Indians, South Indians and people from North East as well as from the neighbouring states also.
It is a habitat of people from Rajasthan, Gujarat also. Muslims and Christians exist as minorities.
The beautiful river Mahanadi flows through. Raipur is covered by hills, plateaus and dense forests all around the city.
The summer months, from March to June are very hot and Monsoon commences in June and lasts till October. Winters are cold and begin in November to last until February.
The city is developing fast into an industrial centre.
Raipur is also a hub of good educational institutes.
The city celebrates many festivals in their full glory like Teej, Hareli and Pola apart from India’s main festivals Holi (Festival of Colours) and Deepawali (Festival of Lights).
