Diu is a quiet and secluded place but can get quite crowded on weekends and it becomes difficult to find a good hotel without advance reservation.
There are shared taxis available from Vapi railway station but the drivers drive rashly and the 30-45 minutes drive can get quite uncomfortable if one is not used to the roads in India.
While visiting Diu Fort be aware of the rocky coast around the fort as it has a rough territory and one can slip while climbing on the rocky areas.
The Nagoa beach, Chakratirath beach and Ghoghala beach are safe and provide all basic amenities however it would be better not to venture out alone near the sea or coastal areas especially at night.
Avoid eating out at roadside eateries and always carry packaged drinking water to avoid water borne diseases.
